USEFUL INFORMATION IN ORDER NOT TO RENDER DATA RECOVERY IMPOSSIBLE

IF THE HARD DRIVE MAKES UNUSUAL NOISES (scraped metal, clicking) IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT YOU IMMEDIATELY TURN IT OFF!

These symptoms usually indicate a defect of the heads which can lead to destruction of data. When a hard drive has a mechanical defect, you must turn it off and bring it to service where a qualified technician will be able to attempt data recovery.

Usually, the costs for data recovery in case of such defects can be quite high and the recovery process quite time consuming.

It often happens that the very persons supposed to look after the company data (Network administrators, IT Technicians, Electronics engineers) make the mistake to think they can solve a mechanical defect. In order to increase the recovery chances in case of a mechanical defect, the following requirements must be respected:

• an experienced technician in DATA RECOVERY
• special rooms for opening hard drives ( CLEAN ROOM CLASS 100)
• state of the art specialized equipment and software

If you care for your data, do not make experiments.

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REPLACE THE ELECTRIC BOARD WITH ELECTRIC BOARDS FROM OTHER RANDOM HARD DRIVES, THIS MAY LEAD TO DEFECTS OF THE READ HEADS OR TO DATA LOSS

If, as a result of a voltage fluctuation, the hard drives smells burnt and, even more, one of the chips on the back of the unit is visibly deteriorated, you must turn to a specialized service in order to have your hard drive diagnosed.
